About the Author

Born in New York City and raised in the Dominican Republic, my journey has been anything but conventional. I hit rock bottom early in life, but through resilience and determination, I worked my way up to become a successful Manager for a private company in Midtown Manhattan. I spent years in the private sector, consistently delivering results and climbing the ladder. But despite my professional achievements, I began to feel unfulfilled. I was good at my job, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. I wanted more than just success—I wanted purpose. I wanted my work to matter in a deeper way.

That realization led me to make one of the boldest decisions of my life: I resigned from my well-paying job and enrolled full-time in graduate school to pursue a degree in public administration. My friends thought I was crazy to leave behind financial stability for the unknown. But for me, it was the only path that made sense. I no longer wanted to just work hard—I wanted to make a difference.

Since I was 15 years old, I knew I wanted to help others and make a meaningful difference in their lives. While pursuing my graduate degree, I began working in the nonprofit sector, where I found great fulfillment in supporting families and helping them navigate daily challenges. Today, I continue this important work in the government sector, assisting underprivileged families. I am also passionate about empowering job-seeking professionals by sharing my experiences and knowledge through this blog. I have over 20 years of work experience spanning the education field, nonprofit sector, social services, and government. My background includes extensive work with families, seniors, and individuals from various walks of life, allowing me to develop a deep understanding of their unique needs and challenges. Throughout my career, I have gained vast knowledge of community resources and support services, and I have consistently used this expertise to connect clients with appropriate programs to improve their quality of life. I am a full-time social worker and writer. I still live in NY, and I deal with the same challenges many working professionals face daily.

I hope you enjoy my blog.

Best,

Rebecca
